Introduction
In 2022, SAVE THE FROGS! granted $10,328 to fund 13 amphibian conservation projects in eight countries (Bangladesh, Equatorial Guinea, Guatemala, India, Iran, Madagascar, Philippines and the USA). The following four projects are worthy of funding but are on hold until we raise the necessary funds ($3,337 in total).
We encourage you to donate to SAVE THE FROGS! by December 31st, 2022, as all donations received the final four days of the year will go towards the 2023 SAVE THE FROGS! Grants round, with these four projects receiving first priority in grants distribution.

Manoj Pokharel – Nature Conservation and Study Centre, Nepal
We are organizing an amphibian field survey to collect data about the species richness and habitat characteristics of amphibians found in an area of Nepal that is dominated by tea plantations. The data will be analyzed and used to generate outreach materials to be shared with students, local residents, and government agencies in collaboration with the Suryodaya Municipality. We plan on reaching approximately 200 students at Fikkal Higher Secondary School and Panchakanya Awasiya Secondary School. During these programs, we will educate the participants about amphibians, including their ecology, threats they face, and their importance to the ecosystem. We will share the findings of our study, giving special attention to any implications on the future management of these amphibians and their habitats. We seek $1,851 to fund this project in its entirety.
Saving Toads in Northern Iran
There are endangered toads (Bufo eichwaldi) that live in the wetlands near the city of Lahijan, Iran. Their population is threatened by the loss of breeding pairs hit by cars while trying to cross roads during breeding season. We are organizing a project to help save these toads by distributing brochures to increase locals’ awareness of about the toads; installing signs that warn motorists about the toads; and imploring the district municipality to install a number of speed bumps to encourage passing vehicles to slow down and take care not to hit any toads. This project will be used as a case study for future efforts, as there are many areas in northern Iran where projects like these could be implemented. We have received $486 for the initial phase of this project, and now seek $1,414 fund the remainder.
Suman Sapkota – Friends of Nature (FON), Nepal
I am planning a four part project that includes: a bio-acoustic survey; a Know Your Frogs Campaign for 20 local students and teachers; Conservation Camps for 100 students; and a Stakeholders Interaction Workshop to engage local political leaders, youth clubs, and members of the local mothers’ group. We aim to discover more about the amphibian species who live in our area and to share this knowledge with local stakeholders and students to drum up further support for the conservation of amphibians. We seek $750 in order to fund this project.
Dhanam PK – PSGR Krishnammal Nursery and Primary School, Coimbatore, India
I would like to take the children of PSGR Krishnammal Nursery and Primary School on an eco-tour at the Nilgiris Biosphere Nature Park in Anaikatti, Tamil Nadu, India. The park is home to hundreds of species of native plants, mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Apart from the conservation & propagation of flora, the park also works to spread awareness about the need to safeguard rare species and actively encourages visits from schools and colleges. Our children will learn about what frogs are, their life cycle, their conservation, and why we should endeavor to save them. The children will be able to show their support for the frogs with frog-themed clothing and frog masks. Our school has been celebrating Save The Frogs Day for the past decade and has educated thousands of students about amphibians and their importance to the environment. We seek $250 to cover travel and admission fees.
