Save The Frogs Day 2021

Save The Frogs Day 2021

The world’s largest day of amphibian education and conservation action is now in its 13th year.

Nature enthusiasts, environmentalists, and frog lovers around the globe are preparing for the 13th Annual Save The Frogs Day, taking place on Saturday, April 24, 2021. Conceived and coordinated by SAVE THE FROGS!, a California-based 501(c)(3) public charity, Save The Frogs Day is the world’s largest day of amphibian education and conservation action. The goal is to provide frog enthusiasts with educational materials, ideas and inspiration, and empower them to educate their local communities about amphibians.

Frog populations have been declining worldwide at unprecedented rates, and nearly one-third of the world’s amphibian species are threatened with extinction. Since 2009, SAVE THE FROGS! staff and volunteers have conducted over 1,500 educational Save The Frogs Day events in at least 58 countries worldwide. Save The Frogs Day takes place annually on the last Saturday of April.

This year, Save The Frogs Day events will be offered in two formats, online and in-person. The SAVE THE FROGS! World Summit Online will take place virtually around the clock and around the world from approximately 12pm Los Angeles time on Friday April 23rd through 12pm Saturday April 24th. A full speaker lineup has been posted and includes an array of experts on all things amphibian. Registration is free, but donations are strongly encouraged.

Additionally, frog lovers living near Tahoe National Forest, California have the unique opportunity to volunteer for the California Red-Legged Frog Habitat Enhancement Project. Volunteers will assist with the construction of wetlands aimed to benefit endangered California Red-Legged Frogs (Rana draytonii). Volunteers will get hands-on ecological experience and learn a tremendous amount about wetland construction and restoration. The project is currently underway and will go seven days per week through May 8th. Volunteers can help on any day or group of days throughout the project’s duration. There will be a special Save The Frogs Day live event on Saturday April 24th, 2021.
