Note from Dr. Kerry Kriger, March 15, 2020: “I was never a fan of the field methods required to complete this study, but knew that I could accomplish the study with less environmental impact and greater publication success than could anyone else who would potentially undertake it. I also knew that if I did not undertake the study, somebody else would. So given that the study was going to happen one way or another, I accepted the lead role and ensured it was completed with minimum environmental impact and maximum benefit to the scientific community.”
