About Amphibian Week

Amphibian Week was started in 2020 as a way to bring awareness to amphibians, which are rapidly disappearing worldwide. Anyone can take part in Amphibian Week simply by educating their fellow citizens about amphibians. Use your best amphibian photos or artwork and spread the word about the threats amphibians face; why they are important; ways to save the frogs from extinction; their natural history; ecology; and anything else of interest about amphibians!

Check out our Cool Frogs Facts and How To Help pages here for lots of ideas and inspiration. And be sure to visit our Save The Frogs Day webpage and our World Frog Day website as well!

How To Build A Backyard Wetland

In SAVE THE FROGS! Academy, we are publishing a full course on How To Build A Backyard Wetland! Our goal is to educate land owners and land managers on how they can help out Re-Frogging America! There are few activities more beneficial to amphibians than building and restoring wetlands, and we are delivering you all the info you need to build your own low-cost, beautiful backyard wetland. There are seven lessons in this series, and we are releasing one lesson each day for a week:

“Building wetlands is one of the best things anyone can do to help amphibians and wildlife. My hope is that after watching these videos, you too can build your own backyard wetland! I’ve broken down the steps into easy-to-follow instructions. The videos will cover: finding the ideal location to build a wetland, introduction to hydrology and wetland design, steps to designing your wetland, how to use a laser level, steps in constructing a wetland, and how to make it wildlife-friendly. We have lost so many wetlands; it’s time to build them back!”
— Kathlyn Osagie, Wetland Biologist and creator of the “How To Build A Backyard Wetland” Course
